1.   Solid or Single Piece Pattern:

 Single Piece Pattern

Single piece pattern is that the cheapest pattern among all other sorts of pattern. This pattern generally utilized in simple processes. It’s applied in small scale production. It’s often used for the generation of huge castings like packing box of external-combustion engine and for creating simple shapes, flat surfaces like simple rectangular blocks. The important characteristic of this pattern is that there's no need of joint within the mold area. During this pattern one surface is taken into account as flat portion. This flat surface is employed for parting plane. Sand tools are wont to cut the sand which ultimately makes gating system. The molding becomes a difficult task if there's absence of this flat surface. It’s expected to dwell cope or drag.
2.   Split Pattern:

Split piece pattern is additionally called as Two- piece pattern. It’s the popularly used for intricate castings. The form of casting decides the precise place of parting plane. This parting plane could also be flat or irregular surface. In two- piece pattern half part is usually molded in drag and spouse part is molded in cope. The cope a part of the pattern has dowel pins. It’s utilized in applications where it's very difficult to withdraw casting from the mold. Two- piece patterns are used where the depth of casting is extremely high.
3.    Multi Piece Pattern:

Sometimes castings have very difficult and sophisticated designs. In such difficult situations multi piece sorts of patterns are used. 3 or more patterns are included in multi piece pattern. For instance, if we consider three- piece pattern which comes under multi piece pattern. This three- piece pattern consists of top, bottom and middle parts. Rock bottom part is drag; top part is cope where the center part is termed as check box.

Micrometer and It's Parts:  Micrometer   Micrometer: The micrometer may be a precision measuring system, employed by engineers.
